Michelle Simmons

Hi Friend!

I'm Michelle

I’m a girl that equally appreciates spreadsheets and word processors. I hold a master’s degree in accounting, and could teach you a few tricks in Excel, but I’ve always been and will always be a writer at my core. From writing silly stories in my room as a kid, to embracing writing exercises in English class, to journaling my way through life, my most creative, most honest, and most articulate self has always come most naturally through written words.

Even though my career path led me to working with numbers and data, my passion is writing to share the good news of God’s Word to inspire a life of faith, joy, and fulfillment.

My Faith Story

I’m grateful that I can’t remember my life before Jesus. I was blessed to grow up in a Christian family and I attended a Christian school from kindergarten through eighth grade. I said yes to Jesus as my Savior while in elementary school and by eighth grade, I’d been gifted a Biblical literacy that I would not have gained otherwise and had Scriptures tucked inside my heart that remain there to this day. But more than just knowing Bible stories and verses, the Experiencing God study  that I did in eighth grade Bible class helped me understand what it means to experience a real and personal relationship with God.

Like any relationship, my relationship with God has had its ups and downs over the years, but God has been and will forever be faithful to the work he started in me. The Lord continues to deepen and develop my love for him and his Word and has ignited a desire within me to share his truth with others through my writing.

I want you to know that the Bible is not just a book for past generations! The Bible is significantly relevant to our lives today as we find ourselves living in the middle of God’s great story of Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Restoration. I believe with all my heart that knowing his story brings joy and purpose to our story.

My Writing Journey

As I've noted, writing has always come naturally to me, but other than some English assignments that got shared publicly, I’ve mostly kept my words private. I dipped my toe into the blogging world around 2011 where I blogged about some of my favorite song lyrics in a blog I called Lyrically Speaking. That was a short-lived endeavor. In 2012, some difficult life circumstances led me to seal my public lips and retreat to the comfort of my private journals.

In 2018, I felt a nudge inside that it was time to stop hiding and start sharing again so in the summer of 2018, I started a new blog to share what God was teaching me about life and faith in hopes that he would use my words to bring hope and encouragement to others. Originally named Lest I Forget, the blog later became Remembering God in Everyday Moments. You can still read these posts today over on my Blog page.

I don’t blog much these days. My newsletter Good News Great Joy, which I started in 2025, is my current focus. I also enjoy serving in my local church and I’m working on my first book, a devotional for 12–18-year-old girls!

Be sure to subscribe to my newsletter to get a Scripture based message just for my newsletter friends along with some other fun content to help you live with more joy. I’ll also be providing updates on the book in the newsletter so don’t miss out!

I feel like the journey is just getting started so stick around with me and let’s see where God leads!

And for a little fun,

here are 10 random facts about me:

  • I’m a born and raised South Carolina girl.
  • I don’t have children of my own but adore being an aunt.
  • I hate wearing socks, unless I’m exercising or sleeping.
  • I once had double-jaw surgery 4 days before Thanksgiving.
  • I played the piano for 11 years.
  • If I could do anything and could not fail, I’d be a songwriter.
  • If I could have any superpower, I’d want to control time like I do a remote…pause, rewind, fast forward.
  • I love water of any kind…lake, beach, river, pool.
  • I feel incomplete without a pen, pencil, or digital notepad nearby to capture any thought that I can’t risk forgetting.
  • I hate being rushed.
