Protect Me From Me

Green Grass during Sunset

Shortly after I finished my last post, my dad brought to my attention a little something I wrote in 2012 and had long since forgotten.

After reading it again, it seemed like such a fitting follow up to last month’s “Yielding Our Plans To His Purposes” so I thought I’d share…

Here’s my plan
It’d sure be great
If you’d use your power
To orchestrate
Things in my life
So they fall into place
In my time
And at my pace

But if you said yes for every please
I shudder to think where I might be
The more I live, the more I see
How your no protects me from me

So, in your time
And at your pace
Do your work
And give me grace
To trust that
You know what I need
Your thoughts, Your ways
Are higher than these

For if you said yes for every please
I shudder to think where I might be
The more I live, the more I see
How your no protects me from me

Nothing like a little preaching to my present self from my past self.

Thank you so much! That is a beautiful reminder of the “saves” the Lord has done for me. They were so frustrating at the time but how I rejoiced later. God bless you!

Thanks Carol! I know that frustration and joy well. Praise God we can trust his higher ways and he is equally good in his “yes” and “no” answers.
